This backing track is based on B.B. King’s “The Thrill is Gone”, probably one of the most famous minor blues in blues history! 🙂

The original is in B minor, and it is presented here in C minor. Why you ask? The B minor key is not very common, and is not easy to try and spice up your improvisation (eg. thinking when playing!).

The basis for this improvisation is of course the C minor pentatonic scale. You can add secondary dominant chords, for example playing over C7 one bar before the F minor chord, or a more exotic altered Eb7 chord before going to Ab7. The Ab7 chord itself can be altered a lot since it is the tri-tone substitution of D7, the dominant chord for G7 which comes next.
